Director of Bands
Dr. Daniel Neuenschwander
Daniel Neuenschwander is currently Director of Bands at Kutztown University in Kutztown, PA. As the Director of Bands at Kutztown, he is responsible for leading the Kutztown University Marching Unit (KUMU), Wind Ensemble, Fall Concert Band, and the Spring Symphonic Band. Additionally, Mr. Neuenschwander teaches Applied Trombone Lessons, Instrumental Methods, Trombone Choir, and coaching Brass Chamber Ensembles.

Visual Caption Head
Craig Umberger
Craig is new to the KUMU team in 2026, taking on the role of Visual Caption Head. He has experience in various roles in the activity spanning the last 14 years, working with scholastic and independent indoor drumline and winds programs, high school (and now college) marching band programs, and even drum corps with the Heartliner Drum & Bugle Corps from Ludwigshafen, Germany during their 2013 season, both overseas for their European season and in the States for their involvement in DCA Championships. Craig has taught battery percussion, brass, and visual over the years, and his most recent position was Visual Caption Head for the Wilson High School Marching Band of Reading in 2025.

Nicholas Hall
Nicholas J. Hall currently serves as the Director of Bands for Pennridge High School in Perkasie, PA. In this capacity he provides instruction to the Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Concert Jazz Band, and the Marching Rams. Previously, Mr. Hall served as Director of Bands at Wilson Area High School in Easton, PA

Assistant Marching Band Director
Dr. Timothy Butler
Tim Butler is the Assistant Director of the KU Marching Unit, and an Assistant Professor of Music. He recently earned his Ph.D. in Music Education from the Pennsylvania State University, where he worked primarily with the Penn State Blue Band and Pride of the Lions Pep Band. His dissertation and ongoing research examines how students develop lifelong leadership skills through participation in marching band....

Brass Tech
Dustin Shirk
Dustin Shirk is a Burkes County native, and a Kutztown University graduate. After receiving his degree in music education, he was the band director at the Tulpehocken school district for 10 years after moving to the Kutztown area school district for the past 12 years. Mr. Shirk is the director of all bands from grade 6 through 12. He enjoys time with his family and is looking forward to teaching at Kutztown University!

Matt is the co-caption head and battery arranger for the KUMU Drumline. As an alumni of Kutztown University, he achieved a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Media with a minor in music. Daniel Mark is currently the Co-Director of Marching Percussion for Kutztown University’s Marching Unit where he arranges the front ensemble music and instructs the ensemble. Eric Miller
Eric is the drill writer and co-designer for The Kutztown University's Marching Unit. Eric has been designing marching band and indoor percussion shows for the past 13 years while also serving as a percussion instructor at several different high schools in southeastern Pennsylvania...

Color Guard Caption Head
Brianna Petriga
Brianna Petriga is the Director of the KUMU Color Guard. She has been involved in the marching arts for over 10 years, including her middle school and high school guards, the Reading Buccaneers, the Black Watch, and of course, KUMU! Bri also teaches as a Flag Technician at Quakertown High School and has previously taught at Black Watch Spin Clinics. She believes in everyone being able to march, despite any disabilities, as she has pushed through many guard seasons with her own health issues and has thrived as a performer.

Twirler Caption Head
Tammy Jandrasitz-Bodey
Tammy is a 1998 graduate of Kutztown University and was a four-year member of KUMU and captain of the colorguard her senior year. She returned in 2002 as the colorguard/twirling director, taking a step back several years ago to concentrate on the twirling line. Currently residing in Tuscarora with her husband, Rick, Tammy is a dedicated 22-year veteran staff member of Hawk Mountain Sanctuary. In addition to baton twirling and KU-related sport teams enthusiast, Tammy is a devoted Penn State Football and Philadelphia Phillies Baseball Fan, an avid Disney Junkie (making a few trips Home to Disney World annually) and in love with the beauty of Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons.
