Position Opening:
Color Guard Technician
The Kutztown University Marching Unit (KUMU) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Color Guard Technician to help lead and inspire our talented team of performers for the upcoming marching season.
Position Overview:
The Color Guard technician will work closely with the KUMU directors and staff to develop and implement choreography for the flag line, instruct performers during regular rehearsals, and foster a positive, team-oriented environment. This is a part-time, seasonal position that runs through the fall semester.
Rehearsal Schedule:
Mondays: 3:30 – 5:30 PM (optional)
Wednesdays: 5:30 – 7:00 PM (required)
Fridays: 3:00 – 6:00 PM (optional but highly encouraged)
Saturday football games and other performances are optional but highly encouraged.

Band Camp 2025:
Band Camp will run Wed, Aug 13 through Fri, Aug 22, with daily afternoon and evening rehearsals. If possible, we’d love to bring someone on board in time to assist during some of these camp days.
Qualifications:

Substantial experience with flag technique and performance

Prior experience writing and teaching flag choreography

Strong leadership and communication skills

Ability to teach students of varying skill levels

Weapon experience (sabre/rifle) is a plus, but not required

Ability to work collaboratively with band staff and student leadership
Stipend:
A stipend of $1,100 will be provided for the season, covering all rehearsals, performances, and any additional support during band camp.
